All The Marvel Heroes Referenced In Insomniacs Spider-Man

Across Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’ve already seen references to Daredevil, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, the Avengers, Black Panther, and more. From Avengers Tower in NYC to the Sanctum Sanctorum and subtle Easter eggs hinting at street-level and cosmic heroes, the Insomniac universe is WAY bigger than most players realize.

With Insomniac Games getting ready to unleash Wolverine in its growing Marvel universe, it’s becoming clearer that the studio’s shared world is a lot bigger than just Spider-Man swinging around New York.

So while we wait for Marvel's Wolverine, let’s break down every Marvel hero we know exists in the Marvel's Spider-Man universe thanks to the clues hidden across the Spider-Man games.

First up, the obvious one: the Spider-family.
We've met plenty of Spider-Man characters like Peter and Miles, but more importantly the sequel introduced wider Spider-Verse lore with the Spider-Verse bots introducing a connection to the Across The Spider-Verse film. It’s safe to assume that other Spider-people exist somewhere out there. I guess her Madame's Web really connects them all

But Spider-Man isn’t the only hero with a presence in New York.

After Wilson Fisk is taken down and loses his tower, players can spot the Baxter Building, confirming that the Fantastic Four operate in this world as well. The Human Torch has been best friends with Peter for years, so maybe he appears in a sequel.

Then there’s Avengers Tower, which is fully visible in the skyline, even if the Avengers themselves are mysteriously absent from the city. A line of dialogue from the games reference Earths Mightest Heroes to to be in space.

Even if we don't see them, we know of plenty of references. Spider-Man jokes about Captain America and his shield, Peter Parker appears to have a job interview lined up with Tony Stark, and even Thor gets referenced through mentions of his hammer in Spider-Man: Miles Morales

New York also hosts a Wakanda embassy, confirming that Black Panther and Wakanda exist in this universe.

Street-level heroes are accounted for too. The Defenders are fighting the alleys and hallways on the Insomniac Game Universe. The law firm of Nelson and Murdock confirms Daredevil is active somewhere in the city. Jessica Jones is referenced through her old detective agency Alias Investigations, though it appears to have shut down. Meanwhile, Rand Industries has a building confirming the Immortal Iron First.

Curiously, one member of the Defenders hasn’t been referenced yet: Luke Cage. Maybe the Heroes For Hire are preparing for a different game.

Mutants also appear to exist here, our first name-drop being the singer Dazzler. Not exactly the first mutant you’d expect, but it confirms the X-Men corner of the universe could be out there ahead of Playstation 5's Wolverine.

And finally, there’s a cosmic tease: a statue of Lockjaw in the Financial District, hinting that the Inhumans exist somewhere beyond Earth.
